Originally a Christmas story challenge entry, SX felt the characters had more to say. And so they did. Hennessey Boudreaux is getting ready to leave her beloved South Carolina to travel to Boston to begin college. She's savoring the summer months while working at a local writing program for gifted teenagers. One of the teenagers, Townsend Bartley, is less gifted as a writer than she is as a hell raiser. But money and power talk, and Townsend's mother, a well-known and respected writer, has plenty of both. The headstrong, self-destructive 16-year-old is about to lock horns with her equally stubborn 17-year-old camp counselor. The story that ensues follows these two determined young women as they both try to sail through the murky depths that is young adulthood.

I Found My Heart In San Francisco Series
Despite the questions of her roommates and the objections of her fiancé, Jamie Evans persists in enrolling in a less-than-mainstream course at Berkley - The Psychology of the Lesbian Experience - and unwittingly embarks on a journey of self-awareness and realization. Paired with the darkly beautiful Ryan O'Flaherty - self-styled lesbian and sometime womanizer - for the required fieldwork, Jamie slowly, and painfully, becomes aware that what she feels for Ryan is more than just friendship. But, if she dares to break out of her establishment-fashioned, pre-ordained mold, she might find out that love, and life, have so much more to offer than she had ever dreamed
Seven months, eight months, nine months... a lifetime. Exchanging gentle kisses at the top of Mt. Tam, Jamie and Ryan declare their love for one another. Studying for exams and training for the Aids Ride, they experience the tentative fumblings and frustrations of adjusting to a new relationship. Though Ryan is determined to proceed at a pace that is comfortable for her neophyte partner, their need for each other grows stronger with every passing hour - whether they are together or apart.
In the first two books of this series, Jamie and Ryan forged a friendship (Awakenings), and realized that they had fallen deeply in love (Beginnings). Book three, Coalescence, brings the two together for their honeymoon in idyllic Pebble Beach, where they commit themselves to sharing their lives together. Here they begin to experience and explore the emotional and physical expressions of their love, as well as the conflicts and compromises that plague all new relationships.
June in San Francisco and a young woman's thoughts turn to... Gay Pride Weekend! Ryan begins to introduce Jamie to some of the "secrets" of the lesbian lifestyle. The first night they make love in her family home, as Jamie falls asleep, Ryan whispers, "Go goinnne Dia thu." May God keep you. He's going to have to work overtime as specters from Ryan's troubled past come back to haunt the new lovers. A chance encounter sends Ryan down a path of discovery that will require them each to examine the strength of their commitment; while Jamie must face some hard decisions about how and when to share the news of their love.
From expensive haircuts to expensive cars, Jamie's money - and what it can buy - continues to be a problem that she and Ryan struggle with. But, when Jim Evans, already in denial over his daughter's declared preference of a mate, receives a report from the bank that Jamie has given Ryan access to her checking account, he becomes more convinced than ever that the money is the only reason that Ryan has latched onto Jamie. Catherine Evans tries to be supportive and build a closer relationship with the two, but her husband is determined to be the protective father and split them up. Set against this undercurrent of family discord, Ryan is trying to find some truths of her own; what really happened in her senior year of high school, and who was responsible.
This is a short story flashing back to Christmas Eve 1977. Jamie is not yet born and Ryan is 2 years old. Come and get a glimpse into the past and meet the young Catherine, Jim, Martin, Fionuala and Michael.
Does absence really make the heart grow fonder? Jamie and Ryan have a chance to find out when Ryan has to join the team at Volleyball Camp in Santa Cruz for a week. Phone bills skyrocket as Jamie travels with her mother to Rhode Island to visit the Dunlop family estate and her East Coast relatives.
Catherine and Caitlyn join Jamie and Ryan in a fun filled trip to the Magic Kingdom. From the Teacups to Space Mountain, the foursome draw closer together in the enchantment of Disneyland. But not all of the thrills and spills come from the rides. Jamie and Ryan both experience some ups and downs from revelations that may cause a disruption in the "Fantasyland" they share.
After all the fun in Disneyland Jamie and Ryan come back home to return to the world of family, school and sports. What will happen when Jamie confronts Jim about his treatment of Ryan? Will Ryan's secret be revealed?
Jim Evans bared his heart to his daughter and promised to honor her relationship with Ryan. His pledge certainly rang true when he made it. But will he be able to hold to it? No matter how sincere his Intentions, it's clear that this will not be an easy task for him. The sparks started to fly when Jordan and Mia spent a night talking and kissing. Will those sparks start a fire? Is Mia even interested in a serious relationship with anyone - much less a woman? Can anything be more important to Jordan than volleyball? Martin and Maeve have decided to wait for a few months to tie the knot. Even though that decision makes logical sense, can logic be the final arbiter where the heart is involved?
In this most recent offering from SX Meagher, the entire O'Flaherty clan - family and friends - is back in fine form. Pairs and singles, relationships in various stages of nascence, resolution, and dissolution, struggling with first steps and final steps, we follow Martin and Maeve, Mia and Jordan, Catherine and Jim, and of course Ryan and Jamie, along with assorted brothers, aunts, uncles, cousins, and former lovers on the intricately interwoven paths that constitute their individual and collective Journeys.
