One Year Ago

When I recall one year ago my earth

had you and I was ignorant of this

I'm awed I almost lost this precious truth

I'm scared how close it came to being missed.

Just think of what we would have lost my love

The love we never found would disappear

Take flight and soar to heaven as a dove

Just waiting for it's chance to reappear.

My soul's sharp opening to your sweet touch

Was quick and painful, hard won and intense

Worth everything I owed and paid,

but much gained: wonderful unfettered emotions.

Since you are in the world my soul's set free

To catch your soul and keep it safe with me.
