Held Fast

Your hands are big -

much larger than mine.

They have a strong look to them,

but I know how gentle they can be.

Light glints off the gold circle.

I know that since I put it on your finger,

you have never taken it off.

The ring symbolizes the continuity;

the stability and solidity of our union.

Those words describe you, as well.

I can feel your hands on me now,

Sheltering, cherishing, caressing -

loving me.

Wherever you are,

I am home.
