Death's Calling

Horses hooves thunder in my ears,

The ground trembles beneath me.

The battle reaches it's conclusion,

As death surrounds me,

Bodies lying all around me.

I lay here prone,

The world swirling about me.

What was I fighting for?

What was the purpose?

At this moment, long for the bliss of oblivion.

To find what it means to be alive,

To know completeness,

For one moment in time.

The agony of it torn away,

Knowing it could never be mine.

Now knowing it draws near for me,

I look in those eyes I lost long ago,

Still see the love shining there.

You were true to your word,

And have waited for me.

Now taking your hand,

Step into the brightest Elysia,

Knowing you accompany me.
