Childhood Memories

The laughter of childhood
Rings loud in my ears
Promised friends forever
Alas, through the years
We went separate ways
And we both lost touch
Though I've not heard from you
I have missed you much
I've thought of you often
And I've wondered how
You were getting along
What you're doing now
And do you hold as dear
The sweet memories
Of our childhood friendship
So young and so free
The days spent in laughter
And in innocence
Untouched by life's trials
Or its cruel intent
Only two little girls
And make believe games
And a long past era
Now, nothing's the same
But I still remember
The way we were then
And it's my dearest wish
To be so again
