Creatures of the Night

As the sun falls from the sky
And the light of day is gone
All the creatures of the night
Come out, once more, to roam
They never brave the daylight
For the things it would reveal
Would annihilate their souls
Perhaps even make them feel
Much better to prowl the night
And hide beneath its cover
Prey upon the innocents
And even on each other
Dodging the truth of their lives
Evading the touch of light
Melding into the darkness
And, though knowing wrong, from right
Caring only for themselves
The pleasure of the moment
Feeding off of each other
Letting their actions foment
Them on to nastier deeds
And becoming more depraved
Until the reach their swan song
Buried deep in early graves
