The Return of Calisto & Valaska

"Gabrielle! Gabrielle! Please! Wake up. You're having that dream again." Xena shook her little friend by the arm and watched with much pain as her best friend cried out again and again in her sleep.
Finally Gabrielle woke up. Crying, she hugged Xena.
"I know it hurts Gabrielle. You lost so much in such a short amount of time. But one day you'll wake up and realize that it was for your on good that you finally made your first kill and threw Hope off the cliff," Xena tried to explain it to Gabrielle as best as she could.

20 men surrounded her. At first Gabrielle thought that Xena would just hear them and frighten them off like she usually did. But clearly Xena was further off than she thought.
"O.K. warrior of mine. I'll just have to deal with them myself.," Gabrielle thought as she looked around for her staff.
"Look what we have here. It looks as if we've stumbled onto Xena's little Amazon princess. Want some company sweetheart?" one of the guys leered at her.
Gabrielle cringed with disgust as she prepared to swing her staff around to show them what they were up against. But one of the girls that was traveling with them stepped forward and Gabrielle just about fainted when she saw who it was.
"Valasko," Gabrielle just barely managed to say through her fright and anger.
"Surprise surprise Queen Gabrielle. We're back. Both of us. Welcome to your nightmare-again." Valasko sneered towards Gabrielle.
Xena had made it to the camp sight and saw what made her want to scream with pure horror. Calisto was standing at the edge of the woods, and Gabrielle screamed in pure horror, just before both Xena and her plunged into darkness.
When Xena woke up she saw her and Gabrielle were both hanging from a thin rope over the same open lava pit that they had dumped Calisto and Valasko. Their lives had depended upon it. Now that their lives depended on it again, Xena couldn't do any-thing to help them. Especially Gabrielle.
Calisto walked around the campsite smiling. When she saw how Xena was struggling against the ropes to free herself, she couldn't help but smile. She knew as well as Xena what would happen if Xena did somehow free herself. A fiery death into the lava pit.
Valasko happily smiled when she thought of what Gabrielle would do when she cut her loose. But when she saw how happy Calisto was she immediately smelt trouble. Calisto was thinking of cutting Gabrielle first so that Xena would have time to suffer before her own death.
But Valasko had other plans. If she had to, she would go as far as talk to her big brother Hercules and get the secret of killing a god/goddess. She would very happily watch Gabrielle suffer as she killed her best friend, Xena.
The first thing that Gabrielle felt when she woke up was the burning sensation of cramps in her arms and hot gusts of wind cutting through her skirt and on to her legs and thighs. She thought she would puke when she looked down and saw the lava pit with mild explosions every now and then.
At first Gabrielle thought that she was dreaming. Then she thought that Zeus was punishing her for the murder that she had committed. But when she saw Valasko, the shocking realization hit her like a ton of bricks. She was there to stay- and to die.
The yell that split through the air was enough to make Xena cringe with disgust and fear. But when she realized that the yell belonged to Gabrielle, she twisted with a type of urgency that had only taken over when Marcus and her had been together.
"Gabrielle! Are you O.K. ?"Xena cried out when she saw the frightened look on her face.
"I'm fine Xena. Just a little shaken up. Why didn't you tell me that one day she would return Xena? Why? I could of handled it. I know that you've had a lot to go through lately with the furies and everything, but the least you could do is have the decency to tell me." Gabrielle said with anger.
"Gabrielle, you know that I didn't mean to hurt or keep any thing from you. I only did it to keep you from worrying. I'm sorry. Really. If you only knew how much I was concerned about you. When we get out of this mess, you can hate me all you want. But right now you've just to trust me enough to help me get us out of this mess. O.K.?" Xena said.
Gabrielle thought for a moment, and just as she made up her mind she felt her ropes slip. She looked across at Xena and saw that her ropes had begun to become unraveled as well. Suddenly she heard one of the most annoying sounds in the world. Joxter's voice.
"Joxter the Mighty he roams through the country side. He never needs a place hide with Gabby as his sidekick fighting with her little stick. Righting wrongs
and singing songs..... being mighty all day long.... he's Joxter-he's Joxter the Mighty," rang through the air crystal clear.
Gabrielle wanted to laugh because she knew that if Joxter saw where she was and who she was with, he'd do one of two things-scream with fright, or claim to be mighty and brave like he always did, and try to rescue her. But on the other hand, he could get himself killed. That thought was so terrifing that she hissed at Xena, telling her to yell a battle cry and make it sound like it came from the north end of the bend instead of the south end, where they were.
Here goes nothing thought Gabrielle as she prayed to Zeus asking him if he would please tell Joxer to leave. To Gabrielle's amzement it worked.
"Xena, I'm coming! Don't worry! You'll be fine as soon as you let a real hero come and fight off those bad boys." Gabrielle heard him say as he ran out of sight. He didn't get completely out of sight before Calisto found him and grabbed him by the collar.
"Don't worry. I won't hurt you. I promise. But if you don't hurry and get out of sight I'll tie you up with your little friends." Calisto hissed nastily.
"Let the little pip-sgueek go Calisto. You've got the people you want. Now hurry up and cut the rope." Ares said with a his usual scowl.
"I don't think so," Xena said.
When Ares and everyone else turned around they all gasped in amazement as they saw Xena standing there with Gabrielle standing by her side. All of the sudden they all saw Xena throw her charkrom. It caught Calisto and Valasko in their suits and tossed them back into the lava pit. Ares disapeared into mid-air
.
"Xena! How did you escape?" Joxer exclaimed with a dazed look on his face.
"That's my little secret. Now, where's Argo?" Xena said with a dry smile.
" I don't know, but if I never see those two again it will be too soon." Gabrielle exclaimed with a slightly pale look on her face. "Now, lets go get some food." She exclaimed with a smile.
