SOULMATES

 

I left my home to follow you

and stayed although you tried to make me go.

And as we traveled far and wide

I always prayed you'd keep me by your side.

Despite your best intentions

we became friends,

inseparable, bound together by trust

and love.

 

Anyone can see your strength.

It is unmistakable; in the way you stand,

the way you walk, the way you move.

Only I can see your heart -

in the bright full smile you give so rarely,

in the affectionate glance

you send my way.

And only I can know your soul.

I feel it softly brushing against my own.

You gave yourself to me completely;

I had no choice

but to join my soul to yours.

I cannot live without you now.
