It was
February, 1944, and I'd never been happier
I was so much in love my feet never touched the ground
I loved my work
And although my family still didn't approve
They were resigned to the fact that I wasn't coming home
I should have been fearful of the fates
Seldom do they allow such happiness
But I was young and foolish
It started out the same as any other day
I was hard at work when I heard it
At first, I didn't know what it was
And when I recognized the sound
I refused to accept it
Til the world around me exploded
