The crisp jellybeans of Halloween are decorated in bright orange and black. Dropping small handfuls along the main pathway leading all the way upstairs. Hunting each one, makes in part the fun, find a few more hidden away. As I line them up, curving along the edge, they roll away one by one across a wide expanse of paleness that hides each jelly once more. As I neatly tuck them back, each jelly is a burst of excitement, until all I have left, are a few lonely colours quietly waiting to fall in dark depths. Slowly the last ones fall, first orange, then black, until the sweetness fades. - inspired by conversation with Miss Ellie |
