by Carola "Ryûchan" Eriksson [classic/alt/complete] Added part 3 of The War Between the Hearts by Nann Dunne November 28th, 2004Updated the Ultimate Über List by Eileen Marks November 25th, 2004I've given the Academy Munchkins and the Great and Wondrous Oz™ the day off. While I know it's a holiday the United States celebrates today and not the rest of the world (on this day anyway), I just wanted to take a moment today to thank everyone who contributes to the Academy of Bards. To the munchkins - I couldn't ask for a better bunch of ...well let's just leave it at a bunch <g>. Even you Phil, especially you :) To the writers - thank you for spending countless hours doing work for free for us to enjoy (feedthebards, feedthebards, feedthebards!) To the other websites - thanks for keeping us on our toes :) And most importantly, to you - the readers. Without you we wouldn't be needed. Thanks for those who take the time to send us a note saying that our contribution isn't forgotten, it's very appreciated. Thanks for sticking with us. I hope everyone has a good day, and for the US readers, wear extra big pants! steph November 24th, 2004The Key by Emyster
[complete/alt/über PWP] November 23rd, 2004In response to our Public Service Announcement yesterday, we've had a request to put this as a rebuttal. We don't usually do this but we're going to make an exception this time :) <please don't send a bunch to us to put up, this is a one-time deal!> Greetings to all Bards, I have so many (too many to count) stories on my "bookshelves" (CDs), that it will take me years to read them all. Which is fine with me, I can always add another shelf (CD) to my library of fan fiction. I'm sure I'm not the only reader who has a library of fan fiction. A reader's delightful dream-come-true, believe me. But in the meantime, I just wanted to make this public announcement, thanking all you wonderful Bards for all these wonderful, fantastic stories out here for us to read. And while I'm at it, a great, big, huge, thank you to all the ff sites that post all these stories for the bards and us, the readers. I appreciate all your hard work and time you spend posting these stores for us too. You've created special stores for the bards and readers. It's like going to the Mall, except this Mall has nothing but "bookstores" in it. What a wonderful place to shop. And we don't have to get out in bad weather or crowds to go to this Mall either! Can't ask for better than that, now can we? Thanks again, to the Bards and the ff sites, for all the stories that have been posted over the past years, and years to come. You are very much appreciated and you bring happiness and anticipation every day to those of us who check out the sites for new stories every time we get online, looking to see what has been posted since we were last online. It's fantastic what you bring to us, the readers. And we do appreciate it. Thank you all, November 22nd, 2004Added part 8 of Dance with the Devil by Harley Public Service Announcement from the Academy <.Steph steps up to the microphone.> Excuse me...hello...excuse me...can you please... <.OZ steps up to the microphone.> QUI--ET!!!!!! <.OZ steps back.> <.Steph stares at Oz and gets a grin and a shrug in return.> Well, yes. This is Thanksgiving week and I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to ask you to please, please take just a minute out of your busy week to thank a bard. I know, I know...you have family/friends coming over, you are up to your armpits in...giblets. You are making your lists, checking them twice and contemplating which creditcards are gonna play nice. You are busy. But, surely you can spare just a minute to thank the bards who give so freely of their talent to everyone. The Academy is only one site...there are hundreds of fanfic sites with thousands of stories...thousands of stories available to you for FREE. If you have read anything recently that has caught your fancy or would just like to remind a favorite bard that you still enjoy their stories...take just a minute to write them an email. Let them know you are thinking of them. If you read'm, please feed'm. She is now sharing the goods with all of us. Thank you Rohan for doing that! After you guys read these stories Rohan commissioned, if you like them maybe you'd be inclined to do the same and help out a writer who has given us high quality, entertaining stories! You could hear the cyberwailing for cybermiles. Where was I...Yes, the PITA D...uhhhh...D has her own space. Well, as much space as you can have sharing it with a bunch of original characters, plus X&G and their entourage and, of course, the pink and fluffy goddess herself. Check it out. All the Valiant stories are there...
ummm...waitaminute...one is missing... All right...who left out AVK? <.tap, tap, tap.> I'm waiting? FINE! That's okay, if anyone wants AVK...just email the bard, I'm sure she will send it to you. <.bg.> It's a short but vital link between AVJ and AVL. Oooh, what else is on site here... Most Cherished Dreams...
Frequent Conversations...
And then there are the X&G stories...of which I am particularly fond of...especially since I had something to do with coerc...ummm...convincing her to write a few of them for Academy Specials. 48 Hour Fix, Argo 2 (It's All Greek To Me) and Blood Bond. Ah yes, Blood Bond...the complete 7th, 8th and 9th seasons (that should have been)...JMHO. Oooh, and lookie...you'll get to see works in progress too. How cool is that? Anywho...get lots of snacks, a cup with a lid on it (you will thank me later), pull up a comfy chair and get to reading or re-reading, as the case may be. PHIL

ON the second day of list making the Academy added two...
ON the third day of list making or maybe it was the night...
ON the fourth day of list making, the list was getting mad...
ON the fifth day of Solstice, things just got plain weird...
On the sixth day of list making, Steph's roots did appear...
ON the seventh day of list making, the items were so right...
On the eighth day of list making the folks finally remembered...
ON the ninth day of list making, we all got in the game...
ON the tenth day of list making, a little voice did say...
ON the eleventh day of list making, the IDC exclaimed...
(and then she laughed, maniacally)
ON the last day, the twelfth, needing one last little bit...
Yes, Folks...just when you thought it was safe...The Annual Academy Solstice Bard Challenge is here.
If you will go here: http://www.academyofbards.org/contest/2004/solstice
You will find all the information you need. The premise is our standard Solstice one...write a story using as many of the listed words (78 total) as possible. The story can be X&G, Uber or original and doesn't necessarily even need to be a Solstice story.
Please read the roools carefully. Why? Cause I said so. Geez. Plus you may just find a few helpful hints and bonuses embedded in them.
Deadline is the 12th of December. Of this year, please.
Have fun.
