We have an organic approach to how we add imprints. Instead of putting the
cart before the horse–creating an imprint before we have books to fill it–we
let the horse wander up to the cart and give it a nudge. In other words,
when we find a book we really want to sign, we'll gussy up a brand new cart
if it doesn't fit in the carts we already have. And then the strangest thing
often happens. We suddenly have several horses trotting through the gate up
to that shiny new cart.
Our latest "cart" is called Bink Books. We've always wanted a fiction
version of our nonfiction Rogue Books imprint– so Bink Books is an imprint
devoted to fiction that doesn't fit into our other categories.
Our first Bink Book off the presses is A Cowboy Tradition: Poems from the
Heart by T.K. Galarneau. Now, it's true, we've said that we don't publish
books of poetry. But, as with everything, there are always exceptions. On
page 132 is a poem entitled “Dizzy Dazz.” It's a little know fact that
Bedazzled Ink is named after Dazz the horse. Here's the publisher with Dazz

So we have a cowboy poet in our midst and think that's pretty cool . . . and
gives us a good excuse to go to cowboy poetry festivals. T.K.'s poems tell
stories of ordinary people who spent their lives living and working on the
land. Some of the characters like Charley are fictional, but could have very
easily existed in a time long since passed. Most are based on real people
from T.K.'s youth . . . many are family who have passed on and left their
stories in her care.

I want to talk really quickly about not believing in something vs. believing in possibilities. I've copied and pasted part of my dedication here: I dedicate this novella to my wife, Melanie, to our cats, Dopey and Flirt, and to our dog, Chester. Dopey died during the writing of this novella, which is ironic in a way because the character of Mrs. Purr was already in full force as a combination of Dopey and Flirt. In Mrs. Purr, part of Dopey will always live on. Part of Flirt, too. I don't believe in abracadabra magic, but there is no denying that after Dopey died, Flirt (who is a year younger than Dopey) started taking on many of Dopey's behaviors—behaviors Flirt had never done. Who knows, maybe magic does exist.
This novella will always remain super extra special to me for the above reason. - Q. Kelly
