No updates today but a big (to me anyway <g>) announcement. I'm glad we get to do it on the FIFTH! anniversary of the Academy of Bards.

Something I like to do when I can is help good causes. I think that people should do what they can for others whenever they can. Having said that..in real life I'm pretty involved in things, especially things that have to do with kids. My now seven-year-old played on a great baseball team last year. We were so impressed with the other parents and the coaches, we'd thought we'd found a league we'd be a part of for a very long time. This past September I received a call saying there was a good chance the league would not be able to continue due to funds being misappropriated. As soon as there was an inquiry into the missing money, people were ousted and criminal charges were filed. However, this didn't help the league money-wise.

Fast forward to January. During this time, we (because I became one of the new board members trying to make things better) did public outreach and media stories letting the community know about the plight. Some monies came in, including a good part from the Xenaverse after I told some people the story, and it was enough - barely- to get things started. With all the hard work, we still had a long way to go. So I started talking to some of my writer friends and thought having them write stories that we could auction off to benefit the baseball league. I had a really good response to it and thought things were good when my friend SX Meagher said, "Steph, why don't you just publish these stories and make more for the kids." Then my other good friend, Blayne Cooper, agreed with her and even used some of her connections to get things moving. I was flabbergasted. I had no idea we could do something so cool, so big and so fast.

With the help of Kathy Smith from StarCrossed Productions (http://www.scp-inc.biz), Medora MacDougall - editor extraordinaire, and 20 awesome writers, I would like to announce an anthology of some of the top-notch writers in the business!

Telltale Kisses is a compilation of 20 awesome stories. These writers are together in a book for the first time ever for charity! All the profits, 100%, are going straight to help out a league that will benefit 250 -350 kids so that they can continue to play ball. I'm so very proud of this book and hope that with your support in buying it, we're able to make a huge difference. The book should be ready in a couple of weeks. Unfortunately our very own fan fic reviewer, Judith has requested that her Just like Buttah review site be pulled since she isn't reading much, if any, fanfic these days.

Please check out her recommendations at Just like Buttah - it'll be made inactive in the next week to 10 days.

The Academy would like to keep a reviewer on staff though. If you, or someone you know who might be interested, would like to try a hand at reviewing new and old fanfic alike, drop us a line and we'll look at all volunteers and pick someone if there is anyone who sends in an email.

We are looking for someone who has a good grasp of the English language. Someone who understands that shutter and shudder are not synonymous and is able to use a spell checker :)

Después de terminar de traducir al español las temporadas virtuales 7 y 8 de www.xwpvs.com estamos terminando la  temporada 10 de www.xwpsubtextvs.com. Si deseas ayudar a mantener nuestro espacio vivo, colaborando en este trabajo como traductor/a y participar en la planificación de futuros proyectos, estamos buscando nuevos colaboradoras, que siempre  son necesarios. Hello Everyone:

I belong to a group of Xenites that dedicate some of our time to activities that will help to preserve a space in the Xenaverse.  We have recently finished the Spanish translations of Season 7 & 8 of www.xwpvs.com and are now finishing the 10th Season of www.xwpsubtextvs.com.  If you are interested in maintaining this space alive by working with us by translating or planning future projects, we are looking for new members for our group.

We only ask for some minor prerequisites which are as follows:
You must possess at least a 40% understanding of Spanish.  It is not necessary to be able to dominate the language in order to translate since there will be someone available to help with language problems. (This would be a great way to improve you language skills). 
You must possess a great desire to preserve the Xenaverse. 
You must be able to dedicate some time to translating a few pages of text that would be distributed on a weekly basis and translated within a specified time frame.

On Saturday, April 2nd from 11 am to 4 pm join them and Matching Accessories Literary Trust, in associations with the UWO Pride Library, in London Ontario at the University of Western Ontario, University College, Rm 30 for "Passions & Pleasures: Reading, Writing & Romance" as they welcome Radclyffe, Anne Azel, Alex Mykals, CL Hart, Linda Hill of Bella Books and KG MacGregor for readings, signings, panels, workshops and an open mic; new books by these authors as well as Lois Cloarec Hart will be on sale.
