Announcement from Kim Pritekel
Hey, all! I had my eye surgery this morning, and it was totally successful, and immediate! I was actually able to read a text message 15 minutes after the fact. Amazing. I have to go back to the doc off and on for the next three weeks so they can check on my progress, as well as for me to get fitted with some glasses, which will help my vision even more. So, overall, I'm gonna be okay!

The pic is me in recovery, about 5 minutes after surgery - just enough time to put my own shirt back on.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!
Kim

Announcement from FighterInLove
Today, after four years of her passing away, I want to say these words to her and to all her fans and to people who knew or not her.
Lori Jo Maas was the best author ever read in the known world. For me, she was the most talented Xena fanfiction writer, her novels are amazing and as much as I can, I will proclaim that.
While I were through the Xenaverse, (`cause we won't ever let Xena go away), I found at academyofbards.org her fanfictions, her amazing stories. I fell in love with them at that right moment.
I went through:
THE QUEEN SERIES: An extremely well written story, with all the details taken care. Intense love between our favorite couple, a great drama.

OUR LITTLE WORLD: So cute and tender. You will feel automatically identified with the characters.

MERIDIO'S DAUGHTER: 10/10, amazing. This story is very original. What I admire and I love so much about these stories is that LJ represents Xena in all the über fics perfectly. I've read many other great stories but I would stay unsatisfied by the end. LJ has the Xena we know very concretely: Tough, bad tempered, beautiful, passionate, smart, a real warrior. A love story in contemporary Greece.

NONE SO BLIND: This fic is so original, so genuine. Again, very well portraited characters: Taylor and Torrey. You will think: "Hey! Warrior, are you d*** blind or what!". But at last, you'll have what you so much expected since the beginning.

TUMBLEWEED FEVER: First, I was coming around this story, but I was a little held back by the warning of the lack of sex content (what a good girl I am!). But once I got in, I couldn't stop reading! I was at three, four, five in the morning still reading it. So, I highly recommend you not to read it at 10 p.m. For me, this is the best story of all. I watched Conagher and I really loved it. He really behaves like Xena (Devlin Brown). Oh, Dev, she's d*** sexy! Wow! I hope someday I can become a rider too.

THE CONQUEROR SERIES: Maaaaaaaan, I can't describe this completely. Ave Lion of Amphipolis, Lord Conqueror of the known world! Not a bad Conqueror, but a passionate, incredibly intelligent, amazingly gifted warrior. Xena! Xena! Xena! "A mighty warrior princess forged in the heat of battle, the power, the passion, the danger". Yes yes yes yes yes.

And I could stay here making a thousand comments about these stories, but well, I know that anyone who reads them, will have most of my thoughts.
She's got these two books published too: Prairie Fire (a sequel to Tumbleweed Fever) and Rebecca's Cove. I heard and read so many good comments about them! I'm on my way getting them!
LJ... She's talented indeed. Wanna read some really good books? Have her over your bed-table.
You will not get disappointed.
I feel my heart sad and happy. Sad because we will not get more artworks from her. Happy, because she made truly a good contribution to humankind. Thanks God for it. Thanks God for her.

LJ Maas, you will live forever in our hearts.

A new bard joins us today! Welcome Jennifer Alexander Robinson!

MUSINGS: The Bard & The Warrior by Jennifer Alexander Robinson . [Poem/Classic/Alt/Complete]
A campfire scenario. This is a Xena and Gabrielle vignette, composed as a lyrical story. This story is interspersed with episode references and dialogue snippets from series 1-6. There is more than a little extra blurring of the Xenaverse timeline here.

Welcome the the Academy, Kennedy Northcutt

A Nation's Pride by Kennedy Northcutt. [Classic/Alt/Complete]
This story takes place several months after the events of the third season of Xena. It includes references to the episodes The Bitter Suite, One Against an Army and others that touched on Britannia, Chin, Velasca and the rift that developed between Xena and Gabrielle.
When Xena and Gabrielle arrive at the Amazon village, they are in for more than they bargained for. When a sudden illness takes Gabrielle down, Xena must help the Amazons deal with a threat that could undermine their chances for a peaceful future. Will Xena's efforts on behalf of the Amazons end in disaster? Will the gods interfere, once again? Or will past prejudices and present animosities change the landscape forever?

Announcement from Insane Englishwoman
This is a quick note to apologies to anyone reading my unfinished tale Tin Soldier, where a British soldier loses her legs and is temporarily blinded. The apologies are because this tale is likely to remain unfinished. I began it with every intention of completing it and having my soldier find a future with the nurse who helps her through. I had received the next three chapters back from my beta, had made the required corrections and was ready to post them.

And then a bomb went off in Afghanistan. A 19 year old British soldier was caught in the blast. He lost a leg immediately. The second became infected and also had to be amputated. He was left temporarily blinded and it was touch and go whether his sight came back. I don't personally know him but he is a friend to some acquaintances of mine. From them I have heard of his struggles to regain his life. He doing better, he has a new baby son. And he has (through some very painful processes) recovered partial sight. He's still got a long hard road ahead of him. Recently he featured in a BBC documentary along with several others similarly injured, whose lives are now far from the way they expected.

I always intended my character to go through hell, I wasn't going to gloss over how hard it is to recover. But she is just a character. And suddenly writing some light romance, no matter how much I put her through, seemed almost insulting in the light of his blood, tears and sweat and that of all our dead and injured. I found myself unwilling to post the chapters I had completed and unable to continue the story.

I don't know if I'll ever be able to continue it but, for now, readers should be aware that it will most likely not be finished. I am very sorry.

Insane Englishwoman
