Išm happy to announce the return of The House on Sandstone, now available from Bella Books (www.bellabooks.com ). Thanks to everyone who bought the first edition. This one has only minor changes from the earlier version, but it has a cool cover by Steph. Herešs the synopsis, and stop by to check out what else is in the works at www.kgmacgregor.com .

Twenty-five years ago, Carly Griffin left her home town of Leland, Kentucky sure that it held nothing for her future. Now weary of living overseas for one consulting project after another, shešs glad to have two months back home to relax with her aging parents.

When she catches a glimpse of her high school friend Justine in the doorway of her elegant home, Carly is surprised by the warm, familiar feelings that the image stirs within her.

Justine Hall made different life choices, returning to Leland after college to marry and raise two children. Now divorced, she walks a fine line between sanity and hell, struggling to reconcile the sexuality she can no longer deny with the expectations of motherhood and mores in a small town. Could these two women possibly have anything in common after all these years?

Welcome to the Academy, Lori Meyers!

Death of a Conqueror by Lori Meyers
I've always wondered what would motivate a person to wreck havoc on the land they were born and raised in. Or more precisely, what would have motivated a young Xena to be a conqueror. For riches? For land? For the right to rule people by fear? Would such a truly malevolent personwho rules by fear alonelast long in the job? I kept coming up with only one answer: no. I mean, don't people tend to dispose of despots early in their reigns? (Though there are always exceptions.) Caesars and Hitlers don't last long, and the malicious bitch that is usually Xena the Conqueror wouldn't make it past her second year, more or less. This is a different kind of Conqueror story. I asked myself the question: what if Xena became a conqueror for all the right reasons? Or so she thinks. I present to you Xena Akolastos, the Conqueror that lives in the real ancient world that was Greece.

Roselle here.

I'm sorta fine. As most of you do not know I lost my job at the end of October. Health reasons you see...most to do with the renovation of the building I was working in...suffice to say that my poor wee lungs did not like the chemical reaction, but in Texas when you lose your job due to health reasons and don't have an actual diagnosis as opposed to a 'condition' you can't claim unemployment and prospective employers freak out when you list health as the reason for leaving.

So I am now down to asking for monetary help. I do have a new job right now, but I just started and that won't keep the wolves from the door. I had a bit of money put back, but that's gone now to the doctor bills which thankfully are mostly  paid off.

If anyone can help I would be most grateful, I have nothing to offer but the promise of repayment in say no less than two years with a bit of interest (and the dedication page for the new Cage book which I am working on). I can't seem to get paypal to work for me so I'll just put my home listing.

I cannot even begin to describe how much this hurts my Irish/Comanche pride to be asking this of others.

***Update - from J. Rosestar

I have spoken to Roselle this evening and she has approved sending PayPal donations to me in her name. She works near us so delivering cash to her will be rather simple. Remember she also doesn't have a computer so setting up a PayPal account at this time is difficult for her. Your PayPal name will show up in the email that will be sent to me automatically with your donation. If you would please include your screen name in the note box, we can pass that information on to Roselle.

Announcement

from Bedazzled Ink Publishing Company

Hi!

Hope everyone is having a happy and safe holiday.

We hope you will enjoy the January issue of Khimairal Ink.

This month's selections capture the essence of our submission statement. "the stories we most enjoy are positive, thought-provoking, and clever."

First time contributor, Stephen D. Rogers has penned the clever who-dun-it, Intermittent, while another newbie, Sharon Hadrian's funny slash fiction piece, My Father is a Lesbian, is certain to invoke your own scientific studies. T.J. Mindancer has graciously added to her Emoria world with a thought-provoking tale about obligation and choices while Q. Kelly's exquisitely told story, The Old Woman, offers a different perspective about true love and second chances. We are fortunate to have an excerpt from Barbara Davies' new anthology "Into the Yellow". Barbara has been one of our favorite contributors to Khimairal Ink and her collection of spec-fic stories is superb.

You can find these great stories at:

http://www.bedazzledink.com/khimairal-ink/khicurrent.html

Our parent company, Bedazzled Ink Publishing Company will have a booth at the Xena Convention on January 12-14, 2007 in Burbank. We'll have...hot off the press... copies of Barbara's new book along with Mindancer's Emoria Tales and C.A Casey's children's stories. So if you are there, stop by and say hello!
